"Everyone has a story and the longer we live, the more chapters are added; some awesome, some tragic and everything in between."
What we're all about
When we look down any given street, it might just be that at number 20 there is celebration, at number 45 a shock redundancy. Four doors down from there, someone has just lost their partner of 40 years. Joy, worry, sadness - all in the same street, at the same time. How do we make sense of such differing moments in each of our lives?
Most of us seem to have a sense that there is a purpose to our lives beyond the daily grind of work, eat, sleep repeat. But very few of us get the chance to explore gently and spaciously the questions and thoughts we have: the majority of us just wonder, and get on with life. Everyone has a story and the longer we live, the more chapters are added; some awesome, some tragic and everything in between.
Surrey Hills Vineyard Church is a community for people who want to explore God and what it is to be human and at the same time reach out to our neighbours with help, care and affection where needed. We readily acknowledge that none of us have ever walked in another’s shoes and so we try to be as broad-shouldered and open-minded as we can possibly be with each other. Over half our community has no church background at all yet love the time spent together exploring life questions while at the same time getting to understand each other’s stories and lives. It’s challenging but lovely stuff!
We meet every Wednesday at 7.45pm at the Malthouse Community Centre in Dorking. We start with chat and snacks and enjoy exploring life together. You would be super welcome to come and join in. We finish at 9.30pm and then some of us head to the pub for a drink to cap off the night.
